THE BIG SURF
Like most Canadians, we check the weather forecast regularly. On Wednesday there was a warning of extra large surf conditions (see photo below) that caught our interest. Winter is when the North Shore of Oahu sometimes has extraordinary waves, drawing surfers from around the world. So, early Thursday morning we drove across Oahu to the North Shore to check out the conditions and hopefully see some surfers testing their skills. It was worth the drive. We stopped at Haleiwa Beach Park, Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline. Our guess is the waves were in the range of 30 to 35 feet. Very impressive and fun to watch. There were lots of surfers, spills, many spectators, some with enormous camera lenses and a few quad copters hovering over the surfers to get great videos.

The wave and surfer watching was followed by a garlic shrimp lunch at Giovanni's Shrimp Truck and them a grilled banana cake with vanilla bean ice cream at Kahuku Farms. Mmmmmm, what a great lunch.

Rounding out our day was swimming at our condo pool and time in the hot tub.
